Ben And Jamie-Lynn
Jamie-Lynn Sigler grew up on Long Island not watching football. Today, the Sopranos star is dating a guy from Pittsburgh and bleeding black and gold. Having witnessed Ben Roethlisberger’s Super Bowl win in person, she jumped at the chance to hook up with young No. 7. Big Ben, meanwhile, was a poor college kid when Sigler’s TV show premiered, so he’s got a lot of catching up to do when it comes to a certain HBO classic. Not surprisingly, these two stars have a lot in common. Surprisingly, one of them is a lover of greasy food.
Ben: I’ve been traveling everywhere this off-season, playing a lot of golf. I’ve been to Vegas, L.A., Miami, Orlando, even the Bahamas.
Jamie-Lynn: Wow, that’s great! There was a time when I got down to a 22 handicap, which for me was good. But no matter what, you’re outside with beautiful landscaping, gorgeous views, no TVs, no distractions. And no cell phones.
Ben: I bring my phone when I golf. Somebody’s always trying to reach me. But in the Bahamas, it didn’t work. That was the best part. I was down there playing in Michael Jordan’s tournament with no phone. That didn’t help my game, but some beers did. My buddy calls it “aiming fuel.”
Jamie-Lynn: I played in a tournament once. It was a Mark Wahlberg thing. I won longest drive for a woman. I hit it like 210 with my Big Bertha. I can also play softball. In high school, we were undefeated two years in a row with me at second base.
Ben: Really? I played shortstop. We could’ve been a double-play combination. But basketball was my first love. Still is. I was a point guard.
Jamie-Lynn: I’m a pretty tough girl, because I grew up with two older brothers. They’d play hockey and make me be the goalie. I’d end up with a black eye. And I’d go straight from soccer practice to ballet. I also eat like a guy. Last night I had fried chicken, French fries and a vanilla milkshake.
Ben: I’m a wings guy. I’ll eat wings anytime. I can get away with it a lot easier than some of the older guys on the team. But I should care more about what I eat if I want to last in this league.
Jamie-Lynn: Me too. I should eat healthier. I should start working out. But I’m too big of a procrastinator. I like to sit at home, order in food and watch movies. My favorite is The Goonies. That movie made me want to be an actress. I even have a Goonies T-shirt that says “Chunk” on the back.
Ben: It’s a classic, one of the first movies I remember, It’s in my top 50. But you know what movie I just saw that was awesome? 300. It wasn’t too gruesome. Football is more gruesome.
