794 viewsMy name is Matt August and I am a police sergeant in California. I was born a Pittsburgh Steelers fan in 1972 and have carried that love for the team through highs and lows. I am now raising my own family and they have also embraced my love for Steelers football. I am a huge Ben Roethlisberger fan and have several of his jersey's and am hoping I will be able to get one of his new Nike jerseys this year so that I can hang up my old Reebok jerseys. As you can see from our photo, we are a large family so making sure my entire family had jerseys has always been a priority for me rather than updating my own.
One of the things I admire and respect the most is his leadership of the team and his devotion to his family. I am also very appreciative of the many grants he provides to police departments to help fund police K9's. These dogs are a tremendous resource and asset but can be cost prohibitive for so many agencies so his awareness and commitment to helping agencies is truly awesome.

September 18, 2015 - Sami Wilhite 1104 viewsSami Wilhite makes another appearance on Ben’s site – Sami’s first appearance was on July 23, 2012 when we shared her photo with Ben for our training camp info post. She was back again in December of 2013 for a Steeler Nation post, and more recently, you may remember the birthday shout-out we did for her in April of this year (which included a special email from Ben when he saw it on his website).
Well, she is back with a fun story and some more great photos to share with us:
“The picture I sent you of me and Ben was from training camp in August. I was able to get his attention with the picture collage that you made for me and I was able to get him to sign it. Ben saw it and I said, “Thank you for the birthday email,†and he said, “That was you?!†and he signed the collage I had enlarged. I then asked him for his arm band and he actually gave it to me.
My dad and I made his Findlay helmet and I was able to get Ben to sign that too.
We now have 10 full size “Ben†helmets: His throwback yellow, two Miami Redhawks, Ben’s Pro Bowl, Super Bowl 40 & 43, “The Renegades†from Batman movie, his rookie helmet, and the Speed helmet Ben is wearing now.
But the coolest thing was getting my collage signed that you made me, and also the Miami helmet we made!†– Sami

2013 Steelers Training Camp572 views“For weeks, all I heard was, ‘Daddy, how many days until training camp?’. Selfishly, I was asking myself the same thing, now 33 and never having attended camp myself. I talked to some training camp “veterans†to get the scoop, but truthfully I had little idea what to expect. Armed with a few jerseys, a couple autograph footballs, and some sharpies, we made the 5-1/2 hour voyage to Latrobe. Jacoby was so eager to see all of the Steelers! He wanted to slap hands with all of them as they entered the field.
To cap off a great day of training camp, Jacoby got a bunch of signatures, one of which was from Ben! If you could have seen the look on Jacoby’s face when Ben walked over to us! I am truly blessed to be able to have shared this experience with my son. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Thank you to the Steelers, and especially to #7 for making this such a memorable trip.†– Nick Bonnett, Glen Allen, VA
