Meet Benjamin “Big Ben†Shank!511 viewsBen said this was the best year of his life because he is 7-years old (you know, the #7) and because he is also named after his favorite player.
“Benjamin is holding his 2nd grade holiday project: a Christmas ornament designed with his favorite interests. Of course my Big Ben chose the Steelers, showcasing #7 and Big Ben at the top! He also has all NFL teams and their records memorized for the 2012-2013 season and has his playoff predictions ready (Steelers are his #1 choice!). Not bad for a 7-year old!†– Natalie Aikens, proud mom.

Chase & Ashton511 views"Meet Ashton Drennon and his big brother Chase! This little Steelers fan was born April 23, 2010 with a tumor in his abdomen; he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a “rare†childhood cancer a few days later. He started chemotherapy at 2 weeks old! Within the first year of his life he endured 4 rounds of chemotherapy, 2 surgeries, several blood transfusions, numerous IV sedations, permanent hearing loss and MUCH, MUCH more; but in the end, he came out a SURVIVOR! Take that cancer! However, even going through all that, he is a lucky one. He has lost several friends in the last few years. We are always heartbroken to hear of another child being sent home to live their remaining days in the arms of their parents because there is nothing more that can be done; it happens WAY TOO OFTEN! Unfortunately, Childhood cancer is not as rare as you might think. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month; the same month that Ashton will celebrate 2 years CANCER FREE! We are so blessed to have our son still with us today. He and his brothers continue to amaze and entertain us every day! The boys can usually be found running around the house decked out in their Steeler gear or pretending to be Big Ben as they launch the football at each other! Ashton is super proud to show off his black and yellow hearing aids, especially during football season! GO STEELERS!" -- Brian Drennon

The Smith Family strikes a pose in their #7's511 views"My sons and I are huge big Ben/Steelers fans. My son Devlin (10 years old now) and I were at Ben's very first appearance playing as a NFL football player in Baltimore on September 19, 2004. That day is very special to us because it just happened to be Devlin's first b-day. So to celebrate we decided to go to a game of our favorite football team the Pittsburgh Steelers. Little did we know that game would became a part of history. We were there to see Bens very first TD with our arms thrown up in the air just like Ben. We ALWAYS do a Steelers Ben Jersey pic every time we get our pics taken. Now at ten, Devlin follows what the TV says and is upset that they are talking about Ben going elsewhere. He pays attention to everything down to what time of possession for the Steelers during each game. No matter what happens in our hearts Ben will always be a Steeler . We all love the whole Roethlisberger clan. Congrats on the member on the way. We all are praying that it is healthy and you are all happy, also we all think Jr is the cutest little guy. Not that he needs it but good luck with the rest of the season lets get you guys another ring!" -- 3 very BIG Big Ben fans, Devlin, Deacon & Aubrey

May, 2015: Meeting Big Ben511 viewsElista Burneisen shared this photo of her friends posing with Ben in Hilton Head, South Carolina:
"My friend Morgan, a fellow Pittsburgh Steelers fan who lives on the island, was surprised to see Big Ben at one of her favorite spots on the island, the Frosty Frog. Ben was really nice and sweet to everyone. The Frog, known for it’s sports fans and flags of several universities including Ben’s alma mater, Miami University of Ohio, was happy to welcome Big Ben!" – Elista
*Thank you so much to Elista, Morgan, & Clementine Folan!
